Robinhood explores an active ETF token with T. Rowe Price

The stock token would sit on Robinhood Chain. If it ships, Robinhood says it would be the first of its kind. T. Rowe Price manages $1.9 trillion.

Robinhood explores an active ETF token with T. Rowe Price

Robinhood Crypto said on October 8, 2026, that it is exploring a stock token linked to an actively managed ETF on Robinhood Chain, alongside T. Rowe Price. The post names T. Rowe Price as one of the world's largest asset managers, with $1.9 trillion in assets under management. If the work succeeds, Robinhood says it would be the first stock token of its kind. The last line is the one the firm wants remembered: institutions are here, and the rails are ready. The post is here:

The opening that matters is the kind of fund. Robinhood Chain already carries stock tokens tied to shares and to passive ETFs, the sort that track a basket such as the S&P 500. An actively managed ETF is the next shelf. A manager is choosing what the fund holds, rather than following an index. Putting that kind of fund into a stock token would give a trader outside the usual brokerage window a claim on a portfolio someone is running, on the same chain that already trades the trackers. That is the "first of its kind" in the post. It is narrow, and it is real: first as an active ETF token on these rails, not first as a stock token.

The rails are already open. Robinhood Chain went live on public mainnet in July 2026 as an Ethereum layer 2. Stock tokens trade around the clock in more than 120 countries, through Robinhood Wallet and through decentralized exchanges including Uniswap. The book already includes equities and passive ETFs. Trackers put the tokenized-stock contracts on the chain in the neighborhood of 190. The post is not asking a reader to imagine a chain. It is pointing at a chain that has been taking trades since the summer and saying a new kind of fund can sit on it.

T. Rowe Price is the name that makes the sentence institutional. The firm reported $1.90 trillion in assets under management as of August 31, 2026. Equity was about $910 billion of that. Multi-asset was about $699 billion. The firm has also been building an active ETF business of its own. That business passed $30 billion, with $4.4 billion of net inflows in the second quarter. The account Robinhood tagged is T. Rowe Price's digital-assets account. The post is Robinhood's. A matching commitment from T. Rowe Price is not in the thread. What is in the thread is a $1.9 trillion manager named, on purpose, next to a chain Robinhood says is ready for institutions.

The next post in the thread is the boundary, and it belongs in the story. Robinhood says the collaboration depends on legal due diligence, issuer board approval, final terms, regulatory approvals, and the related filings. There is no assurance it proceeds, and no assurance a product ships in any particular place. Stock tokens, as Robinhood describes the ones that already trade, are tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited. A holder gets economic exposure. The token is not the share, and it does not carry voting rights or a direct claim on the company. Robinhood says each token is backed one for one by shares at a licensed custodian. They are not available in the United States or to U.S. persons, and they are restricted in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. None of that is a guess. It is the note under the announcement.

What comes next is the approval, not a ticker. The positive read is the one Robinhood wrote. A manager with $1.9 trillion is in the conversation. The chain already trades stock tokens, including passive funds, around the clock, for readers outside the United States. If the board, the filings, and the approvals land, the active ETF token would be a new shelf on a rail that is already carrying trades. The post is the start of that work. The follow-up, when the terms are final, is the story that comes after this one.
