Coinbase Pro is coming back, and the options market is already in the building. On October 7 the company said it has finished integrating Deribit, the deal that creates what Coinbase calls the Coinbase Global Exchange, and that Pro itself returns at the end of this year as the professional desk inside the Everything Exchange. The official account put it on a video and a waitlist the same morning. The post is here:

The scale Coinbase is plugging in is the reason the post matters. Deribit held over $30 billion in bitcoin options open interest as of September 30, and it processed more than $1 trillion in trading volume last year, the company said. For years, derivatives have been where most crypto volume actually lives. Putting that book on a Coinbase rail, instead of leaving it on a separate offshore screen, is the point of the integration. Coinbase says Coinbase Financial Markets will connect U.S. and global crypto derivatives into one regulated liquidity pool. That is the sentence worth keeping.

The rollout is phased, and the phases are good news rather than a delay. Deribit-powered options, spot margin, and unified portfolios arrive in the coming weeks. Options open first for eligible traders outside the United States. U.S. retail access comes later this year. U.S. institutions can reach Deribit's options and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime, on the same platform they already use for spot, futures, custody, financing, and staking, with onboarding open now and options expected in the coming weeks. Spot margin lets eligible traders borrow against collateral, up to 10x on selected major assets and up to 5x on other supported names. One login starts to cover more of the book.

Pro is the front door for the people who want all of it in one place. Coinbase says the rebuilt Pro, at the end of this year, will trade spot, futures, perpetuals, options, and equities under one roof, with faster order routing and tools aimed at high-volume traders. A waitlist is open for early access. The old Pro was the screen serious spot traders trusted before it was folded into Advanced Trade. Bringing the name back, with options and equities on it, is a bigger promise than a fresh coat of paint. It is the professional half of the Everything Exchange, which Coinbase describes as one platform where a trader can reach every instrument, backed by regulated infrastructure.

The path here was a purchase, then a migration, then this morning's post. Coinbase agreed to buy Deribit for about $2.9 billion in 2025. The integration is the part that turns a headline into a market. Perpetuals that had lived on Coinbase's international venue have been moving onto Deribit rails. What traders get next is the options book, the margin, and, by year-end, the Pro screen that ties the instruments together. A new matching engine and updated Advanced Trade fee tiers are already live, the company said.

Today's news is the integration and the return date. The follow-up is the first week a non-U.S. trader can pull up a Deribit option inside Coinbase, and the day Pro actually opens the waitlist into a live book. Both are close. The $30 billion of bitcoin options interest and the trillion dollars of last year's volume are already on the other side of a finished integration. The post is the invitation. The desk is what comes next.

Before the cash open.

One note. It goes to the desk, not just this browser.
